Our Collective Duty
It is our collective duty to care for our planet. To ensure a future where we can thrive and enjoy a quality lifestyle, it is imperative that we adopt sustainable practices in both our work and consumption habits today. Opting for seafood is a wise decision, suitable for daily sustenance and festive occasions alike. Not only is it beneficial for our health, but it also contributes positively to the well-being of our planet.
Preservation and Sustainability
When you choose to buy sustainable seafood, you push suppliers to source more environmentally responsible products, driving significant improvements throughout the industry. Ultimately, your choices have an impact on the health of our seas around the globe. Select Fish only supports sustainable seafood suppliers and makes sure what arrives on your plate, either by retail or foodservice, is fresh, traceable and responsibly farmed.
From both health and environmental perspectives, seafood stands out as a superior source of animal protein. Our objective is to promote increased seafood consumption by introducing a diverse range of exciting and flavorful seafood products that are not only delicious but also easy to prepare. By doing so, we aim to simplify the process of making environmentally conscious choices in our daily lives, ensuring that everyone can contribute to a healthier planet without compromising on taste or convenience.
Certifications
We partner with certified aquaculture companies in Norway, Greece and other Mediterranean countries, which follow sustainable farming practices. Adhering to global certifications like IFS Food and ASC is crucial for our seafood processing business. These certifications ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. By committing to these rigorous standards, we demonstrate our dedication to excellence, environmental responsibility, and food safety, reinforcing our reputation as a reliable and responsible seafood provider.

IFS Food Standard
The IFS Food Standard reviews the products and production processes to evaluate a food producer’s ability to produce safe, authentic, and quality products according to legal requirements and customer specifications.
Select FISH S.A received the certification to International Featured Standard Food (IFS Food) from TÜV NORD CERT in 2017. We are therefore able to meet the growing challenges in the seafood sector and offer gap-free quality and safety for our products and our processes. As a certified company we demonstrate continual improvement and work on optimizing our procedures, on different stages of the supply chain. The IFS Food certification is based on quality management standard EN ISO 9001.
Global Good Agricultural Practice (Global G.A.P)
GLOBAL G.A.P Global Good Agricultural Practices is a standard for both agriculture and aquaculture. The standard covers food safety, animal welfare, sustainability, employment, and traceability. Global G.A.P is particularly important for customers in Europe. The Global GAP certification ensures that the aquaculture practices adhere to stringent quality and safety standards. This assures consumers and stakeholders that the fish and seafood products are safe, healthy, and sustainably produced. The Certification ensures that the aquaculture operation minimizes its environmental impact, promoting biodiversity and resource conservation. Most importantly the certification process includes stringent requirements for traceability, allowing businesses to track their products from farm to fork. This enhances transparency and accountability throughout the supply chain.
Aquaculture Stewardship Council Certification (ASC)
The ASC standard was founded in 2010 by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and IDH Sustainable Trade Initiative. ASC promotes responsibly farmed seafood through its certification and labelling program. Fish farms that meet the ASC´s standards gain the right to sell their products bearing the ASC logo. ASC-certified salmon is a responsible choice, helping the consumer to care for the natural environment and support local communities. The main pillars are: biodiversity, pollution, diseases, feed, social requirements for labor and local communities.

Eco-friendly practices
Implementing energy-saving practices in our factory, such as using LED lighting and efficient machinery, installing photovoltaic panels for energy efficiency are some practices we have applied. The new Photovoltaic Energy Offsetting System – Net Metering with a capacity of 82,82 KW was installed in 2023 on the rooftop of the factory in Ano Liosia.
Green Packaging
In our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, we have embraced green packaging solutions for our seafood products. Here’s how we are leading the way in eco-friendly packaging:
- Biodegradable Materials: We utilize packaging materials that are biodegradable, meaning they break down naturally over time without leaving harmful residues. These materials are often derived from renewable resources such as plant fibers.
- Recycled Content: Our packaging incorporates materials that are made from recycled content, reducing the need for virgin resources and minimizing waste. This includes recycled paper, cardboard, and certain types of plastic. Our foodservice 5kg carton box is FSC Certified.
- Recyclable packaging: A significant portion of our packaging is designed to be recyclable. We ensure that our packaging is clearly labeled with recycling instructions to encourage proper disposal.
- Reduced Packaging: We aim to minimize packaging where possible, reducing the amount of material used while still protecting the quality and freshness of our seafood.

Non GMO
Especially for our salmon products, we select farming companies which follow a strict NON GMO policy, which means they do not farm genetically modified fish and do not use triploid siblings. Also the used feed ingredients, additives and auxiliary substances are no GMO’s, are not made of such, and were not produced with or by GMOs.
Healthier Fish:
Non-GMO feed is typically free from synthetic additives and chemicals, promoting healthier growth and development of fish. Non-GMO fish and seafood often have superior nutritional profiles, offering higher levels of essential nutrients and omega-3 fatty acids.
Environmental Sustainability:
Non-GMO aquaculture practices tend to be more sustainable, reducing the environmental impact and promoting biodiversity. Many consumers prefer non-GMO products due to perceived health benefits and environmental concerns, leading to increased market demand and brand loyalty.
Reduced Antibiotic Use:
Non-GMO feed can enhance fish health and immunity, potentially reducing the need for antibiotics and minimizing the risk of antibiotic resistance. Non-GMO fish are often seen as having a more natural taste and higher quality, enhancing culinary experiences.
Ethical Considerations:
Using non-GMO practices aligns with ethical farming practices, promoting animal welfare and responsible farming methods.
