Modified Atmosphere Packaging M.A.P
MAP, or Modified Atmosphere Packaging, is a technology used in the packaging of seafood, and ready-to-eat meals. This packaging technique involves modifying the atmosphere inside the package to extend the shelf life of the product.
The concept behind MAP is to adjust the composition of gases surrounding the fish within the packaging to slow down spoilage and degradation. It typically involves altering the levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen within the package to create an optimal environment for preserving the fish. This method helps to maintain the fish’s freshness, flavor, and nutritional value for a more extended period, reducing the need for artificial preservatives in some cases.
Flow Pack horizontal & vertical
Flow pack packaging, also known as horizontal form-fill-seal (HFFS) or pillow packaging, is a method where fish is wrapped in a flexible film and then heat-sealed to create a sealed package. The process involves creating a continuous “flow” of packaging material that is formed around the product, providing a protective and sealed environment.
Here are some benefits of flow pack packaging: Freshness and Shelf Life, Transparent Film Option, Versatility, Product Protection, Reduced Packaging Waste, High-Speed Production, Tamper-Evident Seals, Convenience for Consumers and off course great branding Opportunities

Skin Pack Paperboard or tray
A skin pack packaging method involves placing fish, on a backing material with a clear plastic film tightly sealed around it. This process eliminates excess air from the package, creating a tight, conforming fit between the product and the packaging material. The result is a visually appealing package where the clear film conforms tightly to the contours of the fish.
Here are some benefits of skin pack packaging for fish: Extended Shelf Life: The tight seal formed by the skin pack helps reduce exposure to air, slowing down the oxidation and deterioration of the fish. This can extend the shelf life of the product, maintaining its freshness for a longer period. Enhanced Visibility, Reduced Freezer Burn, Improved Product Presentation, Customization Options: Skin pack packaging can be tailored to fit various product sizes and shapes. This flexibility allows for a customized and efficient packaging solution, accommodating different types of fish and cuts. Reduced Packaging Waste and Enhanced Protection:
Tray Sealing Reduced plastic
Tray or top seal packaging uses up to 25% less packaging material than traditional clamshell packaging.
Tray sealing packaging is a method of packaging seafood, that involves sealing a plastic film or lid over a tray containing the product. The tray typically consists of a rigid plastic base that holds the food securely and a lidding film or lid that covers the top of the tray. This seal helps to preserve the freshness and quality of the seafood by preventing exposure to air, moisture, and contaminants.
Extended Shelf Life, Freshness Preservation, Improved Hygiene and Safety, Convenience and Customization and Branding as well as Reduced Food Waste are some of the tray seal packaging advantages.

Perforated Vacuum sealing
Vacuum packaging for fish is a preservation method used to extend the shelf life and maintain the quality of fresh fish. This packaging technique involves removing air from the packaging material and sealing the product in an airtight environment, creating a vacuum. The process typically involves placing the fish in a plastic pouch or bag, and then using a vacuum sealer to remove the air from the package. Once the air is extracted, the packaging is heat-sealed, leaving the fish in a tightly sealed, airless environment. We use perforated 3 X 125g packaging for salmon fillets, easy to choose one and keep the rest in the freezer.
Benefits of vacuum packaging for fish include: Extended Shelf Life: By removing air and creating an oxygen-free environment, the growth of microorganisms and bacteria that cause spoilage is significantly slowed down, thereby extending the fish’s shelf life. Maintained Freshness, Prevention of Freezer Burn and Convenience because it allows for easy storage and transportation of fish without the need for added preservatives.
